Sundays

A place for children to wonder, grow, and belong

At St John’s, children are a crucial part of our church family. We welcome children and families from all backgrounds—whether you’re familiar with church or exploring faith for the first time.

Kids Church at The Vicarage

Our Sunday morning group for children runs during term time, meeting just before 10.00am at The Vicarage (next door to the church). The children rejoin the rest of the congregation in time for the final hymn or Holy Communion.

We run a unique model of Kids Church where children of different ages are together in one group—typically aged 2 to 8. The atmosphere is nurturing, joyful, and rooted in friendship. The children are well known and well loved—by one another and by the adults who lead them. There’s a strong sense of belonging, and many grow in faith and confidence week by week.

Each session includes:

  • A Bible story (Old or New Testament)

  • Simple reflection and age-appropriate discussion

  • Games, singing, crafts and snacks

  • A focus on Jesus—his love, miracles, and the Good News of God's rescue plan

The children come to know Jesus not only as God’s Son, but as someone who loves them personally and walks with them daily.

Babies & Toddlers in Church

Families with babies and toddlers are very welcome in the church service. We love the sound of little ones in worship!

If you need a change of scene, there are two options:

  • The quiet room at the back of church (with the service live-streamed)

  • The Vicarage, where there’s space to feed, settle, or have a break

All-Age Service

On the first Sunday of each month, we hold a 10.00am All-Age Service at St John’s. It’s shorter, interactive, and fun, with creative elements involving all ages. If you're curious about coming to church as a family, this is a great place to start.
