Connect Groups
Grow in faith, grow in friendship
Church is more than Sundays. At St John the Baptist, Wonersh and St Martin’s, Blackheath, we believe that faith is best nurtured in community—where people can ask questions, share life, and support one another in prayer and love.
That’s why we encourage everyone to join a Connect Group.
Connect Groups are small, friendly gatherings that meet regularly—usually in someone’s home—to read the Bible, pray together, and deepen our discipleship. Whether you're new to church or have been coming for years, these groups are a great way to feel connected, grow in faith, and make real friendships.
Who are Connect Groups for?
Everyone! Whether you're exploring Christianity, seeking encouragement in your daily walk with God, or just looking for a warm and welcoming place to belong, there's a group for you.
Some groups meet during the day, others in the evening. Some follow the Sunday sermon themes, while others explore seasonal courses like Lent reflections, Advent studies, or Alpha follow-up.
We also run short-term groups at different points in the year, so there are always opportunities to get involved—even if you're not ready to commit long-term.
🔍 What happens in a Connect Group?
Each group has its own flavour, but most include:
-
A cup of tea (or something stronger)
-
Conversation and catching up
-
A short Bible study or video resource
-
Time to share and pray with one another
You don’t need to know anything beforehand—just come as you are.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
